From London to Melbourne – A Collab with ItsJudyMaree

This month Judy Maree and I teamed up to bring you a super exciting collaboration – our favourite tattoo artists from each other’s cities.
You can read my post on Judy Maree’s blog to see the amazing artists I picked. Also, do yourself a favour and follow this awesome girl on her social platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube.
Without further ado, here is Judy Maree’s post!

I’m so so excited to be doing a collab with the lovely Lavrax about a common love of ours, tattoos! If you want to read what she’s written about you can head to my blog here https://www.itsjudymaree.com/.

If you don’t know me, my name is Judy Maree, and I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I write about mental health, lifestyle, and whole heap of other topics, you can find me on twitterinstagramfacebook, and youtube.

I have quite the collection of tattoos! All of which I have gotten here from my regular tattoo artists! But that doesn’t me I don’t dream about getting tattooed by amazing artists all around the world! So for this collab I am going to be listing my favourite London Tattoo Artists and over my blog Lavrax will be chatting about her Favourite Melbourne artists.

So, I have done another post on my blog all about how I find my tattoo artists but I will do a little step by step guide for you here:

  1. Go to Instagram. If you don’t have an account, then make one purely for the purpose of researching artists. I have found almost all of my tattoo artists on instagram.
  2. Try to decide what style you want. Whether you like watercolour, geometric, fine line, traditional, or any other style of tattoo, there is likely an artist around that specialises in that style! So have a clear idea in mind of where you would like to head with a style or theme. Alternately, if there is an artist that you come across whose work you’re in love with, and their style is suited really well to you, GO AND SEE THAT ARTIST. Don’t take pictures of their work to other artists to copy.. That’s not cool.
  3. If you haven’t had any luck browsing for artists on instagram, then go to our good friend google. If you type in something like ‘Melbourne Tattoo Studios’, most reputable studios in your area will have a website and on there you will be able to find all the artists that you can book in with and what they specialise in.

Grace Neutral

Probably a cliche choice, because I think everyone knows who Grace Neutral is! However I have always followed her work, I love that she hand pokes all her art, and the detail she creates is unbelievable!

Rebecca Vincent

I absolutely adore the floral work that this artist does! It was so hard to choose my favourites!! But look at how cute that bunny is!

Harriet Tattoo

Okay, so I only have black and white tattoos so I don’t have very much experience with colour work! But that doesn’t mean I can’t admire it for afar, these sunflowers done by @harriettattoo are mesmerising, I love how they pop off the skin and are so bright!

Mowgli

I have never seen anything like this work by @mowgli_artist, it is so unique and I would love to have something by them on my body! I am especially in love with these birds, and all the geometric work that is meshed within the work (I am a sucker for geometric work)

Rose Harley

I am all about the thick black lines that @rose_tattoo uses in all her art! I love the definition that it gives her pieces and clear and strong they all look

So on top of listing my favourite artists in london, I will also just do a quick list of my favourite artists in my hometown of Melbourne and you can compare it with the artists that Lavrax has found!
I can’t wait to see the artists that Lavrax picked over on my blog
xx

  1. I didn’t think of Instagram for tattoos; I am considering a cover up as mine is a bit blurry now, and pretty hard to read.
Will go and have a look for some ideas now…whether I am brave enough to sit through a tattoo again is another topic!
